Plans and the free trial

Free for up to 3 rooms, the paid plans, how the 14-day trial works, and the ways to pay less.

ChatBeds has a free plan for very small places and four paid plans. Paid plans are priced per room, per month, and every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial.

You manage your plan in Settings → Plan and billing. Only the owner, or someone with permission to manage billing, can see this page.

Free: up to 3 rooms

Free costs nothing and needs no card. It is for properties with 3 rooms or fewer.

What happens when you add a 4th room

On Free, you cannot add a 4th room. ChatBeds stops you with a message like this:

The Free plan has up to 3 rooms (you have 3). Choose a plan to add more: an owner can start the free trial in Settings → Plan and billing.

Choose a plan and start the trial, and you can add as many rooms as you need. Your existing rooms, bookings and guests stay exactly as they are.

If you enter 4 or more rooms in the set-up wizard, ChatBeds creates them, but you need to choose a plan and start the trial to finish set-up.

Prices

Prices are per room, per month, with a small minimum bill. They depend on the country of your property, and you pay in your local currency where available. Prices are shown before tax; VAT or sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.

As an example, these are the monthly prices for a property in the United States:

PlanPer roomMinimum per month
Essentials$3.50$35
Pro$6.00$59
Group$5.00$118
Pay-as-you-stay$0.40 per occupied room night$35

The minimum covers your first rooms. For example, on Pro the $59 minimum covers about 10 rooms, so a 20-room hotel pays $59 + 10 × $6 = $119 a month.

Large properties pay less per room: 15% off each room from room 51 to 150, and 25% off above 150.

See your own prices

Settings → Plan and billing always shows the prices for your country, in your currency. The bill follows your property's address, not where you are when you look.

Yearly billing: 2 months free

Choose Yearly and you pay for 10 months, not 12. It also means one charge a year instead of twelve.

Your price is locked

When you subscribe, your price is locked for 12 months, even if ChatBeds changes its prices.

The 14-day free trial

The trial starts when you add a card.

Choose a plan

In the set-up wizard, or in Settings → Plan and billing, pick Monthly or Yearly and press Start free trial.

Add your card on Stripe

You go to a secure Stripe Checkout page. Your card is typed on Stripe, never on ChatBeds. Stripe shows the trial end date and the first amount.

Use the full plan for 14 days

Every feature of the plan works during the trial. Settings → Plan and billing shows Trial ends and First charge.

Get a reminder

Stripe emails you 7 days before the trial ends.

Keep it, or cancel for free

Do nothing and the plan carries on after 14 days. To cancel, press Manage card and invoices and cancel there. Cancelling during the trial costs nothing.

Each account gets one trial, and each card can start one trial.

Changing your plan

In Settings → Plan and billing, find Change plan and press Switch to on the plan you want. An upgrade starts at once, and the difference for the rest of the period is added to, or taken off, your next invoice. Your card, invoices, billing address and tax number are under Manage card and invoices.

As you add or remove rooms, your bill follows the number of rooms.

Pay-as-you-stay

Pay-as-you-stay suits new properties and places with a short season. You get Pro's features for one property and pay for each room night you sell, with a monthly minimum. You pay whichever is larger: the minimum, or your nights at the per-night price. The billing page shows your nights and the amount so far this month.

Seasonal Pause

Closed for part of the year? On a monthly paid plan, after your trial, you can pause for up to 4 months each calendar year.

  • During the pause you pay 20% of your plan.
  • The pause starts on your next billing date.
  • Your booking page keeps taking bookings for next season. Staff tools, reports, guest messages and RevBot rest until the pause ends.
  • Nothing is deleted. Your full plan comes back by itself, or press End the pause now.

Seasonal Pause is not available on yearly plans or on Pay-as-you-stay. Set it up under Seasonal Pause in Settings → Plan and billing.

Founding 100

The first 100 properties in each country to subscribe get 40% off any plan, for as long as they stay. If you qualify, the discount is added at checkout by itself, and the billing page shows how many places are left in your country.

Refer a hotel

Your billing page has your own referral link under Refer a hotel: you both get a month free. Press Copy link and share it. When a hotel that signs up with your link pays its first bill, it gets a month free, and so do you. The free month is taken off your next bill.

If a payment fails

You have 3 days to update your card, and everything keeps working. After that, the account works like Free until it is paid: bookings, check-in and check-out keep working and nothing is deleted. Paying brings everything back at once. See Billing.

WhatsApp message costs

ChatBeds does not charge for WhatsApp messages. Your hotel's number is on your own Meta account, and Meta bills conversations to the payment method you add in WhatsApp Manager. See Connect your number.
